You used your car's SNO chains in deepest Surrey?
Since I passed the bug I had last week to Kathy the car was a better bet than cycling.
The main roads around the town were jammed, the motorway was featured on the radio travel news, so set off on the country roads. Got up the first hill having ditched the traction control but didn't have an opportunity to get a run up at the second steeper one due to a car descending*. So spent a while applying the chains. Had to clear the way ahead by pushing some other cars** who were spinning merrily to themselves, but with chains on the roads presented no further challenges.
<still haven't had a chance to try out the new tyre I put on the back of the 'cheetah***>
*Last week in the
SNO a car had been abandonned at the bottom of that bit on the verge by the side of the road. When the
SNO melted a bit the car promptly slumped into the field which is below the level of the road coming to rest on its side. This morning there was another car resting against it in similar repose. Just
here, yup that gentle right-hander was the problem.
**Ignored the RWD merc who after a bit of trying managed to get himself back to the correct side of the road, albeit without making any progress in his intended direction.
***Went into LBS and requested the best traction they could sell me.
