I hope it's nobody we know and that he makes a full recovery.

This is quite an upsetting accident.  I know the cyclist, not particularly well, but I have met him at a few events.  He was very seriously injured, as far as I’m aware he is still in the spinal injuries clinic in Glasgow.  I believe he is currently a quadriplegic with a slim hope of some improvement.
I don’t know details of the accident.  As it is a signal controlled junction there has been an assumption by many that one party passed through a red light.

If he's in the Southern General, he's in the best possible place. Their spinal injuries unit is excellent. Poor bloke.

Always brings it home more when it's close to where you are. I really hope he sees some/any improvement.

Other than the original story there doesn't seem to have been any coverage of the incident to glean the facts of what happened. I suspect it's one we'll never hear about.
