Aylesbury Circular ride - 2nd May 2009
« on: 03 April, 2009, 08:57:09 pm »
I've decided to run this one again, previously mentioned here.  Abandoned airfields and secret fallout bunkers - what more could you want?  It's a nice 52 miles with some lovely rolling hills, although the last 15 miles are mainly downhill (honest).

Assuming it's not foggy like last time, there are some spectacular views of Aylesbury Vale, and there should be lots of soaring red kites.

The approximate route is here starting from Tring Station at 10 am.  For any Londoners, trains take about 40 minutes from Euston.  Lunch will be at the Little Italy café in Haddenham.

Decided against The Crong so early in the day then?  :demon:

Funny you should say that, as I was thinking either we suffer the traffic going through Wendover or we go up the Crong.

Which one's worse?

{Bump}

I can now provide a guaranteed weather statement.  I can promise that we definitely  won't have the freezing fog we had last November.  I am 100% confident of this, so this is not a politician's type promise.

There's also a fairly good chance that it could be rather warm with some sun.

Adam, I haven't had much time this week to think about rides etc and I've neglected this a bit - apologies. I won't be able to come on this largely due to lack of forward planning.  :(

Well, that was a great ride for me - some challenging inclines to toughen me up for Ditchling Beacon next Saturday. Excellent route and brilliant weather, not to mention the company. I ended up being Adam's sole companion so I had 1to1 guidance and support. He was very patient - thanks Adam! I hope he got something out of it though...but it may be what some of my running friends call ironically - 'putting back into the sport'. Clive

Well it was an elite group of two, so thanks for coming along Clive.

Not so many red Kites though, but really nice weather and as promised some spectacular views.

The lunch stop was good as well!
