Alternatively (if needed) Nutcombe Plumbing.  Not the cheapest but excellent work.

Unfortunatley the above plumbers can't take on any extra work

if anyone can further recommend any plumbers in Cambridge woud be very much appreciated.

Is the overflow on the boiler leaking?

If it is a combi boiler, I drain the system and check the pressure in the pressure vessel.

We seem to get an occasional leak from the overflow pipe . its not  a combi boiler

If it is a vented system check the ball cock on your F and E tank, it could be letting by occasionally and causing the tank to overflow. Simple and inexpensive to replace. You will also need a new washer for the cold water feed pipe.

It may be a simple as sand grains in the ball cock valve preventing it seating.  These occasional dribbles can sometimes be fixed by bending the float arm down a bit to increase pressure on the valve.
