A bit of fettling

but not Nutty style, thank goodness.  I bought a couple of disc wheel adapters, these are necessary because the hole in the disc is too small to take a track pump head.  Now it gets worse, because the adapter doesn't have quite enough bite on the short section of valve sticking out into the hole in the disc wheel, and the pump head can't hold onto the adapter end because it's the wrong shape.  A long valve won't help either, because the pump hole in the disc is too small to allow for this.

Lucky for my dremel - I could round the bottom of the adapter so it fits the disc wheel hole better and can now grab more of the valve, and cut off a bit of the pump end of the adapter so the pump stays in place.  I really like my dremel a lot, but I'm still irritated that a disc wheel could be designed so poorly.  From what I read on the net, this is common.  Bah!
