I'm sure you'll still have time to remove any dust which has built up on your bike.

Gah!

Looks like I've left it too late with the tickets, well not so much that - the cheap tix are there but some bunch of cyclists have sequestrated all the bike rezzies, and Southern Rail will let me book a bike on with a £14.15 ticket, but then won't confirm the bike rezzie  ::-), so, on that basis what I'll do is pitch up at Victoria and get the Oxford Tube as its 0.15p better than Southern Rail's best offer without any of the corporate bike grief.

Count me in please, unless the forecast's dire and if that's the case I'll give you a call RZ.

The Paddington trains are little multiple units with no bike space, so you just wheel it on and stick it wherever you like.  No-one seems to care because Oxford students need their bikes*

8) I didn't realise that - for some reason I thought all trains out of Paddington were subject to FGW's 2 bikes per train malarkey.

£4 tix booked on the 22:21, due to arrive at 23:25

Who have we got?

Jurek
Andrij
Fab Foodie
Steve Kish?
Big Chris?
Jaded?

Midsummer tends to be a small ride because there is so much else on, but you do get to do the second half in daylight and (if it's sunny, which the forecast suggests it will be) it's very pretty.

I assume you're talking about late night services, or stoppers. Regular Padd-Ox fast trains are proper high-speed thingies with only 4-8 bike spaces. (although with discretion of staff they often cram dozens in the 'guards van' area).

[I think I'm out, due to needing the sleep for the following weekend's ride.]

Hi rogerzilla, I think I have 3 Freewheelers, all experienced and quickish roadies (well quicker than me, so superfast really  ;D).
Looking forward to this!

I'm afraid I cannot commit to it as I have to be back in time at Michaelwood services for the 400km coming through. Last time my train had no bike spaces, despite me having a booking and I was an hour later back.
It is simpler than it looks.

I'm going through my usual 'how to get there' problems.  No Big Chris or Ken, so may have to ride out.  If so, no Smaldean drop-off, I'm afraid. ???

Also, may bail out after about Holtspur.  See how it goes. :'(

Can anyone else bring a 1 litre thermos flask of very hot water for tea?  I can bring a litre.

Ideally someone who is leaving home as late as possible (Oxford resident?); if the flask is pre-heated and then filled to the brim with just-boiled water, it should still be extremely hot at Tesco.  Then we can just buy milk and some styrofoam cups.  I'll bring teabags.

Maybe. What's the ETA for brekkie/Padington again?
I'd offer you some moral support - but I have questionable morals.

6.30 at the cafe.  It'll be faster than last time because there won't be two stops.  20 mins from the cafe to Paddington.

Not all of them.  Some of the direct trains (ie those that stop only at Reading and perhaps Didcot) are HS125s.

Hello!

/Raises head above parapet/

I might be in, if I can get a pass.

Will confirm soon. And I have unfinished business with Smalldean Lane.

Hi
As I;m currently in Deepest Dorset I don't know when I'm eating or gonna be home.  Usual eaterie is 'The Big Bang' in Jericho, 10 mins very max from the station:

The Big Bang Oxford

Whilst it doen't look the best place to lock bikes, we've never had any issues.  Nosh and service is very good.
Hopefully I'll know who's coming from our lot tomorrow.

Service is indeed excellent.

They looked after me after I'd had double flatulence on the way in October and so was rather late.
It is simpler than it looks.

RIght - I have a "supper pass", so speak up (anyone) if you're a certain/probable for the Big Bang (it is rather good!)
I shall ride my clunker with lots of locks and put it on top of everyone else's shiny things!

Fab/other Abbingdonites: let me know if you want to ride up together.(Have you FabBooked this?)

p.s. anyone with a thermos could fill it at the restaurant.

(I'll peel off before Wheatley. Or something.)
