I always thought the bearded Russian was totally implausible until I saw Sean Eadie win the World Sprint Champs with this belter:

Mind you the Russian is still implausible  ;D

Well, in spite of a certain naivety in the script, the part of the movie I watched (until the end of the first stage) entertained me. Yes, the hardship of training is missing, yes the signs and reading of the tactics seem dubious, but the film captured well the sheer pleasure of riding a bike, even at silly paces to give a false impression of speed, and the freedom I certainly feel when riding. The race with the horsemen is something I would do for example!  ::-)

It was also refreshing to see the simplicity of the riding scene and how nearly cool it was portrayed as -- they could have been surfers! It was amusing to see the gears. Let's be clear, it is not the type of movie I would watch all the time; but being about cycling and it being a rather rare occasion, I got carried away until 1:00 and went to bed reluctantly. A pity it was so late.

Is it on again soon  ? I couldn't stay up late enough ? I saw this years ago, race sequences filmed at the Red Zinger in Boulder I believe. BTW I though the phot above looked like David Martin

Blimey, I bet he doesn't get shouted at to 'use the fakkin cycle path'.

I recorded it and have just finished watching it.
I've not seen it before.
It wasn't bad. Not great - but not too bad either.
Lots of cheesy '80s synth sequencing. And Alexandra Paul (swoon).
I also liked the "clipped in" moment near the beginning.

I didnt realise it was her. She definately gets better looking the older she gets.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I doubt that there are any wide enough. He is BIG.

Apparently he's a primary school teacher. I wouldn't think discipline is an issue.  Imagine being a naughty 6 year old and finding 'Sir' standing over you, glowering  :o

I've only just realised that she was the 'virgin Connie Swail'.

Jennifer Grey looks as if she's just wandered off the set of Dirty Dancing - same hair and everything.
