Saw one being played last night.

Weird and well, weird!
It is simpler than it looks.

Why?

UOGB includes one. I own a concert uke, never played a soprano. No different really from violin, viola, cello, double bass

Why weird? Hearing bass notes and not seeing a bass!

They've only been around 7 years according to Wiki, so perhaps it isn't surprising I've not seen one before.
It is simpler than it looks.

Wow! Great sound for such a small instrument, scale is more or less the same as my octave mandolin.

As pointed out by the UOGB, the bass ukulele is larger than the others, so will burn longer in an emergency.
