Author Topic: The Ticking Tortoise 160k - 30th October 2021 - Severn Bridge Randonneurs  (Read 1207 times)

In association with BlacksheepCC - Severn Bridge Randonneurs offer new for 2021 a 160km event from Bristol for riders to explore.

Taking inspiration from the route Mike Lane rode 'week in week out' on his way to becoming the 6 Times National Audax Champion a winter friendly flattish route out to the Somerset Levels and back for riders to enjoy.

Starting from Warmley Waiting Rooms Cafe which is opening early for you, ride a section of the Bristol to Bath Cycle path before a low traffic route through Bristol to get you back onto National Cycle Routes to the flat Clevedon Moors.  Next over to the Strawberry Line in Yatton where you will ride the flat cycle path till Sandford.

Next you'll head onto the Somerset Levels, passing the 18C Ashton Windmill for a well earned Coffee break at the Cycle Friendly Sweets Tea Rooms.

Head towards Glastonbury for fine views of the Tor before heading back over the Somerset Levels ready for your short but tough climb to Snake Lane maxing out at 20%.

More riding on the levels before a final short climb with great views back over the Somerset Levels where you can take advantage of the FREE Hot Dog stand that I will have ready for you.

Then return home from Bleadon mostly on the same roads out.

He had some medical issues and had to take some time off the bike. I think he has been working back up on his turbo for a while.
Wheel meet again, don't know where, don't know when...

He has taken to Zwift with the same Obsessive Enthusiasm as he took up audax. He's racing with ECC on there.

Mike has very kindly offered to serve the Hot Dogs on the Day from the Bleadon Control.  So feel free to stop and have a chat with him if you haven't seen him for a while.
