Cree XM-L or an modern alternative.
« on: 27 December, 2016, 10:20:58 pm »
Hi.

I have entered the Kielder 24 as one of a team of four. They are in Newcastle and I'm in Edinburgh. I'm looking at a good off road light in case I draw the short / night straw. I am predominantly a road/audax cyclist so have a few dynamo lights and tried out my B&M Lyt this evening. Its OK but won't cut it for Kielder. I have seen the Cree lights online for a couple of tenners but never bought one.

Since the Cree XM-L came out, has anything overtaken it? I'm not wanting to blow the bank but also not wanting to buy something which might last 3 months before the battery selfcombusts horribly, as I'm led to believe can happen with the cheaper light pack?

I did search on here but I'm on the phone and this forum app has never impressed me over a desktop screen.

Cheers, Dave C

Hi, Dave.

I'll lend you an Exposure Maxx-D if you like, if you don't want to spend cash for a one-of.
This will certainly be suitable for this event.

PM if interested.

If perchance Dave you don`t take up Feanors very generous offer and want to get a light for keeps then worth a look at Torchyboys ebay site. I`ve had a couple of very good Fluxient lights off him and he` now doing his own brand (which I suspect is a Singfire---which I`ve also had good experiences / useage of) eg this at just under £30 looks a very good light and buy

....after the `tarte de pommes`, and  fortified by a couple of shots of limoncellos,  I flew up the Col de Bavella whilst thunderstorms rolled around the peaks above
