The hub starts flashing after the code has been input & accepted on the phone & the call cleared down.

Is the incoming phone call causing the ADSL to lose sync?

In which case, investigate the filters and wiring...

Ctrl-Alt-Del / Online Banking Problem.

Recently my mother bought a new iMac.   It's in an room with 2 other iMac's , all connected by ethernet to a BT Home Hub.

When I set it up for her I made sure it was able to connect to her online bank account at Lloyds.  She's been OK with this for a month.

In the last week she's been unable to connect.  She goes to the website, inputs her log on details & the system gives her a one time log on code.  It then calls her landline & she has to input this code via the phone keypad to authenticate.   She gets to this stage & it doesn't work, she gets an error message on screen.

I went around tonight & sat with her while she did this.  It didn't work, and for some reason the home hub appeared to lose connection at the final stage.  We then tried this with another iMac on the same LAN & the same thing happened.

I got my iPhone out, disabled wifi & was able to follow the same procedure , using her ID & passwords & log onto her account.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before, and if so what was the fix ?   IP address concerned is 31.52.58.192 which is BT ADSL.

I can see that I'm going to spend a lot of time trying to locate a suitable droid in Lloyds , while being told as I'm not the account holder they can't help me!

As above.

If she's buying the entire kit & caboodle from scratch then she's got a couple of options.  Go to a local hifi dealer or Richersounds (highly rated) , tell them her requirements & budget & see what they can supply..

or research the issue herself more thoroughly & buy suitable separates on the 2nd hand market.    If she wants to do that I'd suggest she joins a hifi forum & ask for advice.  https://pinkfishmedia.net/forum/  would be my recommendation.     It's a well informed & friendly place with a decent 2nd hand section.

Most low to middle end amps don't cater for vinyl so a separate phono stage is likely to be required.

There are Certain Rules pertaining to the naming of Certain Files in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and failure to follow them can lead to spending three or four hours tearing one's hair out trying to figure out where the typo is

Here's a DIY I have done to Harwich: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/34566038

There are a few odd bits of routing (because of collecting veloviewer squares) but it's all quiet roads. Hopefully that's of use in planning a route? The detour in Wrabness is to visit Grayson Perry's A House For Essex, which is suitably odd. You can't get up to the house, but you can get down the side to have a nosey.

Thanks Morbihan - that Nantes-Brest canal sounds most promising, possibly for another year... Just trying to work out holiday allowances now before I can book ferries!

One thing I am finding it a challenge to get my head around is youth hostels (in France, in Normandy/Brittany). I'm used to the different flavours in Belgium, but this seems to be a whole extra level!

The Pub / Re: Fare dodging: have you ever done it and is it ever acceptable?

A cycling friend of mine is a train inspector for Greater Anglia. He's had many encounters with fare dodgers, some resulting in personal injury.
I've never encountered so many ticket inspectors on a particular TOC as I have with Greater Angrier.

We had an infestation this morning in Oxford; they separated into groups and got onto different trains.

I’m assuming they were heading for their spawning grounds.

But thanks GdS for planning the route and organising! I look forward to the event! :)

yay, see you there! I'm ECEing - if you're riding to the event, we could ride back together? I'm using the A1307 path (old A14) for my ECE rather than the busway, just for a bit of variety.  ;D
