Something like Metalbashers Lane isn't it? Welders Lane maybe?

Didn't remember there was a YHA there – could be useful for a rest mid-ride!  ;D

Is anyone bringing GPS? I never used mine but the route might look different after 7 years.  The petrol station used to be a landmark before the turn off Bledlow Ridge but now it's a housing estate.

Yes, the Etrex will no doubt expect an outing.  This was my May 2014 route, including first visit to Beaconsfield services.

At the top of Smalldean Lane, honest...

If I make a 250-point .gpx file, can you load it up?

Must check diary. Now living close to Thame so it would seem churlish not to join in the fun if I can.

I tried but Milermeter is now full of spurious no-through-roads and I got fed up.  Is there a nice route mapping site that works?

Ridewithgps?

Create new, or could "copy route" for my 2014 ride, edit,  export (500pts) / share.  Ridewithgps has habit of including 'off-road' IME, so needs care.

Here's my proposed route, which is the original March 2009 route with an M40 services diversion.  Under 64 miles but the extra hill* makes up for it.

* actually, Cryers Hill isn't much worse than Gregories Road in Beaconsfield, and we get to skip that.

Extracting a GPX from that has defeated my meagre IT skills.  WTF is a bookmarklet?

Anyway, route looks fine, if a little lacking in drunken zombies.

Just querying the route immediately after Beaconsfield services which seems to be via a gated bridge with style over M40, and an unsurfaced footpath leading to Pyebush ln on the other side?   :)

That'll be the obligatory comedy off-roading section, for full YACF compliance.

I doubt we'll actually do that.  Milermeter is rubbish now and tries to take bikes offroad at every opportunity.  It completely refused to take the normal way out of the services.

I'll settle for as warm as last Friday.  I think I saw a low of 9.5 degrees.

That was just too good. I really can't get enthusiastic about riding much the same roads again so soon, but with worse weather.

The only common part of the route is Thame to Oxford, and even that's a bit different.

Thame to Oxford. Doesn't that have the Godzilla Route in it?* Difficult to find, and when you do you have cycling families and gravel to cope with? But you will love it because it is special infrastructure for sicklists.

*I may have got it wrong and this route goes another way from Thame.
It is simpler than it looks.

There are three of us coming from work, including the gonzo Mr Ibrahim who is going to ride all the way from Swindon.  I did that in 2010 but I had mattc and Dr Bru for company on the first leg, and it was summer.
