Greenbank on the L.

easily spotted because of the 3 pairs of shorts and phone attached to side of head.

:)

I'm not on the phone, I was just resting on the early part of the climb up Yad Moss (that was taken a few miles from Middleton-In-Teesdale).

And yes, that's geraldc.

Greenbank wasn't on the phone, he was just trying to cycle past the photographer in the most nonchalent manner possible, hence resting his head on his hands. I on other hand decided to make it look like I was putting some effort in, so climbed out of the saddle as soon as the photographer was sighted.

And if that's the S jersey, you must be easily pocketable  ;)

By the way, "Abraham Cohen" is the best name for an Israeli rider imaginable.

He's an electrician in North London you know. Abi Cohen.

indeed, he pitched up in his van  for  the South Coast Super Sportive and preceded to wet over every other rider (except P Outhwaite natch) whilst lugging a medium sized suitcase on his bars

Nice pictures Toby, I like the scenery ones in particular. I carried my camera but rarely used it.

I can't see the 3 pairs of shorts attached to the side of his head.

Easily spotted because that's geraldc next to him.

lovely photos  as someone who only ever rode (half) the route at odd hours; which sections were passed in darkness? (for me it was just before Castle Howard until just after Eppleby; the bottom section and top sections were all in daylight. I remember Coxwold in the dark.

(actually the 3 coasts covered some more of it in daylight)

In the dark I rode from just before Thorne to Coxwold. Eskdalemuir to Dalkeith which was the highlight of the ride,  Alston to near Middleton Tyas, Washingborough to Thurlby. Daylight in the other direction though.

Bits ridden in the dark:

North: Sometime after Wragby (I got to the checkpoint at dusk) to Thorne.
North: Brampton to Eskdalemuir (it was not far off dusk when I left Alston)
South: Eskdalemuir to somewhere between Brampton and Alston (left Esk at 10pm and it was light at 6am when I got back to Alston)
South: Coxwold to Thorne (left Coxwold at dusk)
South: St Neots to LV (stopped off to buy beers in St Neots at dusk, lugged them all the way back to LV).

Combined with the one way journey in March I have seen the entire route in daylight as the final day started in Alston and it didn't get dark until coming in to Dalkeith.

If somebody would care to assemble these into a single list of links I'll make it into a 'photos 2009' page at the (AUK) LEL website.  I've also received a provisional finish list which I may be able to post there once I've cleared it with 1 or 2 people.
