Rick actually managed to complete the ride on a bike he borrowed at Thorne.  If I remember correctly, he borrowed the bike from Lev, the Israeli guy who'd abandoned on the way up and had been helping us since.

On the B1228 to Howden. Note the use of binbag.

ChrisN posing with Ausilia Vistarini at Gamblingay

Their conversation at Traquair almost went like this:
Ausilia: You're riding single speed?
Chris: Fixed, actually.
Ausilia: I'm European singlespeed champion
Chris: So why aren't you riding LEL on singlespeed?
Ausilia: 'Cos with gears I'm World Champion.
[but she was too modest to say so]

The friendly welcome at Traquair

Els north of Eskdalemuir

Whenever I saw her, Els looked much more comfortable than on the BCM.

This was meant to be a still photo, but I didn't know the camera was set to take a video clip, and it's probably better as a short video (with the sound of rain falling).

ChrisN is grinning in anticipation of leaving Eskdalemuir, while Ausilia faffs prepares to leave. Through the door, you can just see MV just about to shout 'Why don't you lot just bugger off instead of standing about in the rain'

Ha ha! I believe that's Abraham Cohen's bike. The freewheel seized a few miles out from Coxwold (Southbound) and he had to walk a few miles to the control. A handy member of the Moto Crew was dispatched to a bike shop for a replacement cassette. A couple of hours later Mr Cohen was back on the road. Hope he finished ok.

He did...

Those scarecrows were a bit freaky when I went through there about 6am on Wed.

There seemed to be a MJ theme.   One on the right at the edge of the village had the red and black leather jacket from the thriller video.   Actually, not everyone would have seen that as we missed the turn and went the longer and hillier way to Barnard Castle.

One of the scarecrows was riding a bike in the chemist window.

A Japanese rider does have a solid disc rear wheel, and he must weight close-to-nothing.  Must be fun in a cross wind.

Yup, that's me (Jo Wood) and Matt Haigh on the left and centre, and that looks like Jedrik (real name?) on the right, although I can't be sure at that resolution.

And if that's the S jersey, you must be easily pocketable  ;)

By the way, "Abraham Cohen" is the best name for an Israeli rider imaginable.
