Mrs Miggins absconds to the dark side
« on: 10 December, 2012, 06:44:31 pm »
It's official, Mrs Miggins is now the proud owner of the ex Marj Ice Trike.
Said beastie is currently languishing in the middle of the lounge while planning of the placement of various components such as computer, gps and lights takes place.
Miggs has a rather large grin on her face!
Test rides and minor tweeking tomorrow.
Hours of fun.

Splendid

Just in time for handbrake turns on the frozen carpark weather, too.

Mrs Miggins has a lecture to attend this morning.
She has just left.
Given the large amounts of ice in Rutland this morning and, in the interests or science, best I go Trike testing.
I may be some time.

She will have to demonstrate it on a WARTY at some point!

And there was I thinking you were about to say she had taken the trike due to the ice.

I enjoyed my Q-NT so much I never rode/ride anything else, and then I was seduced by a 26" version from Kevin, (thinks "am I to old for a Vortex" )
The problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so sure of themselves, and wiser men so full of doubt.

Well, that was fun.
A quick blat up to Rutland cycles to get a rear light and some spare tubes.
It's been a long time since I have ridden a recumbent, probably 15 years when I think about it.
Definately will need to work on the legs!!
Impressive machine and fast and fun downhill.
Couple of bits to sort out, loose mirrors and a bit of backlash in the righthand brake plate.
S'pose I had better let Joyce have a go!!

It was very kind and charitable of you to test it out for her.  A great personal sacrifice ;)

You took it up that hill near yours?

Joyce had her first proper ride on her trice this morning.
She's loving it
Just a gentle bimble down to Rutland water in glorious frosty sunshine then a mad 10minutes flying round the carpark experimenting with grip and stability.
Joyce is certainly finding it very comfortable and is looking forward to some longer trips.

Mrs Miggins continues to enjoy her Trice.
She has ridden all but one day this year so far. Not huge mileage but consistant runs building her 'bent' legs.
I need to move the rear mudguard from the carrier to the swinging arm in order to get it closer to the tyre. Otherwise, it throws scog at face height at anyone behind. Ask Canardly!

They all do that, sir.

Here's how the mudguard fits on the current Sprint:

Same problem.  (Indeed, with that studded tyre in November[1], it created a delightful shower of dry leaves for the person behind.)  It really needs a more substantial mudflap.

[1] They shipped the wrong tyres, so we fitted that temporarily.

It was certainly looking good when I visited. I'm more of an upwrong trike rider, and have never tried a 'bent, but it had even me tempted...

Thats the sort of set up it needs.
I have some nice 3mm rubber sheet with which to fashion a deeper mudflap. Sufficient in fact for the Baracta mobile if required.

I certainly won't say no if you've got some spare.

No problem at all, you can have a raid on the bunker on the hostelling weekend.

Neither would I! I am attempting to get round to fixing my rear mudguard (after my recent success of de-rattling the front mudguards, see my blog post here: http://auntiehelen.wordpress.com/2012/12/30/mudguards-a-possible-anti-rattle-modification/

I will experiment and perfect the design and then send you one for the rear mudguard. It comes complete with a cross stitched "Auntie Helen"
seat patch, made by Mrs Migs.
You were supposed to get it on the christmas WARTY had we attended!
