All Cats Eat Grass?
« on: Yesterday at 03:50:00 pm »
There's a cat comes to visit our garden sometimes. We call him/her "Friendly Cat". The other day (s)he appeared to be munching on some tall blades of grass.
Is this usual for cats? I thought they are carnivores.

Both dogs and cats eat grass as some sort of digestive cleansing.  They throw it up again quite soon.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

We had a cat that ate cake, bread, peas, broccoli and much more..l
It is simpler than it looks.

The throwing up part helps them get rid of fur balls. Normal behaviour....
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

When we visited our Sam when he was still the care of the RSPCA, there was a tray of growing grass in his pen. It's obviously a good thing for them.

Of course they eat it inside and then throw up in the house ..
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

From experience, only about half of cats do the grass thing.

Some try to do the grass thing, but get as far as licking the grass and aren't sure what comes next.

My cat did at least have the decency to barf in the kitchen. Most of the time...

All the cats we have housed have eaten grass.
And of course hunting cats get a useful amount of not-yet-digested vegetation from eating other small mammals.

I’m sure D bought some ‘cat grass’ seed at some point...
