I just heard a couple:

Aretha Franklin - You Send Me, from "Aretha Now"

Cocteau Twins - Winter Wonderland

Time to exhume this thread again, I think.

Alyssa Reid's funked-up version of Heart's "Alone", called "Alone Again".  The original wasn't particularly meaningful to me but even I can see that the rehashed one is embarrassingly bad.

Damon.

Agree that Buble doesn't seem to understand the song.  I've always loved Julie London, and especially that song but have you heard Dinah Washington's version?  She was amazing.

Never heard Aretha's version of You Send Me but it's hard to come close to Sam Cooke for anybody, even Aretha.

Yes - mainly to mention that insipid version of Here Comes The Sun on the M&S ad. I think it's by Gary Barlow.

Everything, and I mean *everything*, on this album:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Working-Man-Tribute-Rush/dp/B000RA0RM4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1335957951&sr=8-3

Even by the standards of 'tribute' albums, this one is fucking awful.

Some things are best left alone - I've yet to hear a decent cover of a Rush track, and that includes the version of 'Red Barchetta' that a band I was in at uni did (with yours truly on bass)

Also, Rancid's cover of Blitz's "Someone's Gonna Die" is utterly shite, as is Metallica's cover of "Stone Dead Forever" (which is odd, 'cos a lot of the cover versions they've done have actually been pretty good)

Oooo if we are talking about WHOLE albums worth of shite, try this one on for size:

Yes, it really really is as bad as you might imagine it is, in fact the complete opposite to the "Less Than Zero" soundtrack album which was made up mostly of fantastic cover versions, including Slayer's cover of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Less_Than_Zero_(soundtrack)

To be fair, they can only work with the material they're given. ;)

The Fat Dancer's cover of Song 2. Just for that he should be fed his own lungs.

Precisely.  I've never heard Rush do a Rush song that didn't set my teeth on edge and make my hand reach for an off switch.

If I knew what that meant, I am pretty sure I'd strongly disagree with it.

I really don't like Ellie Goulding's version of Your Song, I don't think she gets it really, it just feels flat.

She is 'streets ahead' of the Streets version though: -

Wouldn't that contravene site regulations?

I wouldn't say this is bad, but it's certainly the most bizarre cover I've ever seen
