Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution
« on: 14 March, 2011, 04:02:10 pm »
Primo is 12 and a bit of a bright spark. He's just finished Animal Farm and I've pointed him at the Wiki page for it and the Russian Civil War. I'd give him one of my books on Stalin/Soviet Russia, but they're Beevor, Figges and Sebag Montifiore, which are brobably a bit advanced for his needs.

Can anyone make a recommendation for a short, simple introduction?

Get him a copy of The Siege by Helen Dunmore (I think).  It's fiction but quietly educational.

Trotsky's History is good.  May as well get it direct from Snowball ;)
