I'm tempted after getting round the Audax National 400k on Saturday faster than I expected !

I'm tempted too, now I'm not doing LEL.

And only last year's 284 miles to beat (stopped as soon as I reached the finishing circuit, with a temporarily deformed back).

Ah,Tony, I've entered too: go on,it would be good to meet you.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Wonder if anyone can help, please? The guy who has helped us for the past couple of years, all-round ace good guy jogler OTP, may not to be able to this year. Mrs eck can help (yleeg, the Berwick/bodach tandem and me) but she doesn't drive. We have enough cars to get one up to Prees for her to use as a base; but we wondered if someone would be kind enough to give her a lift back down to Farndon while we "enjoy" the finishing circuit? Thanks.

I'm in, having found the National 400 utterly exhausting.

I'm in. Entered ages ago so I couldn't back out. It's seeming really close now and I have no idea if I'm prepared enough.

I seem to have entered.  You are not to laugh when you overtake.  It only means you're taking it too seriously, it doesn't mean that I'm slow or anything.

On another note, I read a book about serious cycling, or some similar title.  It suggested that your bike should ideally weigh 1/8 your weight.  I chortled merrily at this as my current main bike is a bit heavier than that, by about 10kg.

Are Exeter Wheelers doing a team thing again?  Is Mike Rose riding?  I'm just wondering if I want to do the 24 this year

That's a lot of pies you need to eat in the next month!

This event has really gone downhill since my day. They'll let anyone in.

Does anyone have a link to the video of TG being helped off his bike at the top of a hill a couple of years back? Suspect it was one of Damon's - but there are rather a lot :)

We have lots of AUKs riding. However, if there aren't enough marshal's there will not be a race. Anyone up for a spot of marshalling?  Unlike normal TT marshalling its a grand day out. The atmosphere is wonderful, you can watch the super quick guys racing like lunatics and spy McNasty in the Raven Cafe. All words of encouragement / insults are much appreciated by the riders. Dave Lewis got AUKs riding this event on the promise of brownie points and stopped it going defunct. It would be a nod in his direction if we can continue can continue to keep this event alive by helping Marshall. Anyone up for this?  Will find out who is chief marshal shortly so you know who to contact with your offer of help. I will be on a support crew.

Brilliant effort Fungus and Jethro for volunteering. Your absolute stars.

Keep your eyes pealed while marshalling. You should see a very well known fix wheeler on gears and carbon wheels ;D

Hopefully will get to chat to you both at some point on the day. HK
