What would you do with £45m...
« on: 07 November, 2009, 03:46:20 pm »
apart from the obvious of course, like family and charities.  Lets ignore buying houses and bling as well.

I would approach Hope and get them to develop a drop bar hydraulic lever and Middleburn to extend their range of cranks.  Get a range of racks for 20" wheels developed that were compatable with the Topeak MTX track system.

What investments would you look into?

No, the winner is not me!

I'd spend £44 million on wine, women and song

I'd probably just waste the rest ;)

I'd email everyone in Nigeria asking them to help me smuggle the money out of the UK.

Buy the two fields opposite my house and turn them into a nature reserve.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I would pay people to follow around other people I don't like and shout "C***" smile madly at them all day long.

Buy a portfolio of terraced houses to rent out and decorate and maintain them myself.

Buy a flat in Paris, Amsterdam, Krakow and London.

Take the RHS gardening course, pay off everyone in the family's mortgage and buy first editions of every book I've ever enjoyed.

I'd like to say I'd do worthy things with it but I bet I'd spend it all on jewellery.

Buy my self a corrupt MP and force him to ask awkward questions during PMs question time.

"Mr Brown - is it true that you wet the bed until the age of 20?"

And so on...

Buy a bit of the Somerset levels and turn it into a nature reserve (pcolbeck - not nicking your idea, it's something I've wanted to do since I moved here) and buy one of the village pubs and install a manager/tenant who can actually run the place for more than three months without upsetting everyone in the village, going bust or both!

Buy Burslem.

Level it.

Then turn it into a nature reserve.

Make a donation to RNLI sufficiently large to provide a new lifeboat.

The RNLI are a very worthy cause but do they need a new lifeboat?

IIRC they do get by very well on donations already.

I heard that they receive more money through donations than any other charity except one. Do they need a new boat ? I don't know, probably. It's immaterial anyway, I don't have sufficient to donate anyway and doubt I ever will.

No, the winner is not me!

I'd buy a massive house, obviously, but I'd have an indoor velodrome built in the garden.

I'd build a bloody great wide road across Birmingham.  Then I'd paint a little bit of it (ooh, about 5' wide should do it) some special colour (shit colour would be good) and call it the Car Lane.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.
