As far as I'm concerned, bobb has always been Raz.

I'm quite happy with my given name of Erron, although I will insist that people spell it right! I'm equally comfortable with Ron.

You need to brush up on your 80s, German pop skills to work out where the "Raz" came from.

I prefer that most people call me by my surname.

One day I will get round to swapping my names around so that I use my middle name as my fist name. I also like Jacomus, but that is reserved for cycling and derby usage :)

Christened Anthony but now only called that by a few close family members.
95% of friends and family now call me Tony
A few old friends from school days call me Anton (don't ask)
and some people, without permission, call me Tone. I've never understood that one.

You lot can call me Toeknee  ;D

Did they fuck up your birth certificate or something?  :P

Which reminds me, I have two birth certificates - because they spelt my name wrong on the first one!

Being called by my name is OK - better, anyhow, than being addressed as "you" for the whole of a day-long, internal meeting (Head of UK ******** department, take note, please - people in Scotland do have names :demon:)

My family & friends call me by unabbreviated Christian name.
Some work colleagues too  call me by my unabbrevitaed Christian name.I am often referred to as Boss on payday ::-),othertimes referred to using a variety of swear words associated with male & female genitalia in conjunction with my body parts/features.My favourite name is Grandad :smug:

It kind of grates when someone who doesn't know me calls me by the really short version of my name instead of the normal version. I can put up with it and they soon realise.

Not many people ever call me by my full first name. My driving license and passport have the short version, only my birth certificate and medical records have the full name.

Touch-feely-slimy-weasely estate agents can go fuck themselves, especially with the faux-chummy 'mate' after they've met me once.

Can it be linked to guilt ? Most friends, mates etc call you with a nick name of some sort but your folks always use your real name.

A bit off I know, my old dog was called Sisse and when we used its real name Zitta, she really knew that she had done something wrong.

Lengthening names is even more annoying than shortening them, I reckon.  Shortening has an understandable logic to it, lengthening is just plain wrong.  Yes, even if you're a primary school teacher and think the long form sounds better when administering a telling-off.

Anyone caught calling me Kimberly (or worse) will soon discover an alternative definition to the term 'carbon footprint'.  Remember:

She has an oscilliscope and an account with RS.

Run away!!!  ;)

My daughter copes really quite well when I use the affectionate name I have for her "Amy Kezia Knoodly Chipken H&P sweety-pie farty pants"

This level of coping may diminish when boyfriends come on the scene
