I'd avoid any kind of interest question when interviewing, because there's bound to be someone whose interests are something I can't muster any enthusiasm for and they don't then get a fair interview. Maybe I'm just lucky that my applicants are a sufficiently select bunch that I can short list and select on a work-based CV. Maybe I'm just aspie enough that other people's social lives aren't a contributing factor to a decision.

However, when reading UCAS forms the pairing of boilerplate personal statement and silly email addresses relieves the boredom.
