I imagine that with all the skyscrapers they gave they just gave a fairly extensive civil defence and fire brigade set up.
It is simpler than it looks.

Faulty Towers?

...is what our generation nicknamed the (not yet Royal then) Hallamshire Hospital, which had spent years not opening and then had horrendous lift problems.

Not to mention that it is allegedly said to be sliding down the hill slowly (built on clay). The lifts are still not up to scratch... Theaters were in the basement, Intensive care on the 20th floor....

I suspect lift problems are almost inevitable once you get past a critical height:ward ratio.

Only the very young and fit will routinely use stairs to ascend >8 storeys...
The Royal Free works rather better at 4 wards per floor and 13 Floors, whereas the 2*20 RHH FAILS.

The four tower blocks on Adelaide Road, London NW3 aka the Chalcot Estate are named after villages in Berkshire.

Bray
BURNham
Taplow
Dorney

Trufax

I passed by Taplow when there was a problem.

Found this comment on a gulf website

Saunders’ wife, Ann, said, “Some media agencies said that it took firefighters several hours to take care of the fire but that’s not true. It was off in about two hours.”
