Seatpost setback

I spent most of today tidying up my bike shed - I have my bike shed back!

Of course this involved drooling over some of the fine and forgotten things in the shed, particularly focussing on the age old need to get the saddle pretty far back.

Anyway on comparing 3 long setback seatposts in the collection:
  • Nitto S84, claimed setback 44mm
  • Velo Orange Grand Cru, claimed setback 30mm
  • FSA K-Force SB32, claimed set back 32mm
The forward edge of the rail clamps (which determines maximum saddle setback) are all in pretty much the same position, i.e. the length of the clamp varies as much as the centre position of the clamp.

Just think of the money I could of saved!
The VO is the cheapest and yet an effective option.  The big cost and weight of the Nitto are not really justified but the lugged steel is very beautiful.

That’s such useful info.

So is 3cm the most setback one can get?
What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?

The Planet X/Holdsworth Gran Sport looks identical to the VO Grand Cru MkII and it's £15
