Smashing night out!  Our route.  A small navigational challenge saw us nearly missing pubs 4 and 5.  And, after enjoying the delights of pub 6 (The Cats) I got on my machine and promptly fell off it.  Much giggling from me whilst lying on my back with Claud on top of me.

The big question is ... where were the rest of you!!!  You missed a grand night out!!!

Look what I found elsewhere, welcome to the club OD.

Do JenM and I get any points for having a Mid-Essex do..

(a) on a Sunday lunchtime
(b) not in mid Essex
(c) in Germany
(d) with each of us having ridden 500+ miles to reach our pub?

So long as there wasn't any forward planning involved, I don't see why not  ;)

So... tomorrow...

I will be heading over to The Three Elms at Chignal St. James starting in Witham, setting off probably around 19:30, aiming for a 21:00 -- 21:30 arrival.

Any takers?  I seem to remember that Christophe might join on his way back from "That London"; OD and huggy were washing their hair and I have a half-memory that it my be Tomsk's "Book Club" evening, but that could be a hallucination.

slippy?  chief?  bloomers?

I forgot one!  I do believe Old Git may well have expressed interest in going to the three elms tomorrow too, but that was some time back and may have fallen foul of the curse of forward planning.

Yup, Book Club for me tomorrow.

Hope there has been a new production run of pork scratchings for you all, since I nabbed them all last week

It's unlikely for me tonight. Microsoft, Netapp and Symantec are all deciding to make my week as crappy as possible!!!

Apologies for the no show. Started pissing it down just as I stepped out of work and am feeling a bit fair weather at the moment so trained it home instead.

Hope you had a good evening and prok sratchings were, well, up to scratch.

May be out in a couple of weeks time. Doing a solo DIY 400km next Friday night/ Saturday so will be resting up next week in preparation.

Pork scratchings were, indeed up to scratch, as were the ales (Colchester Red Diesel, Growler Gladness, and another Growler - Umbel Mahgna perhaps?  A Porter with a hint of coriander in it).

Pete the landlord had been busy inventing new snacks, so these were also tested:-

On the left, a "Haggis Egg" and on the right a "Scotch Tomato"

Very tasty indeed.  I was initially sceptical about the tomato, but it worked really well. (Electrolytes, protein and hydration in a handy package ... I expect Team Sky's electronic ears just pricked up).
