The Swing Grip is a marvellous idea poorly executed.
Mine vibrated itself to death afer ~300 miles.
This was on a Super Galaxy on 32 section tyres so, presumably, a reasonably comfortable ride.
There were only two small lights and an HRM on it so very little weight.
They are truly made of cheese and a crumbly cheese at that.

It's because it's made from aluminium which fatigues with every little movement. I don't understand why they don't make the arm bit out of steel, it would only add a couple of g and make it last so much longer. It's a similar story with aluminium fork crown light mounts, I've had two of them fail in the last year >:(

I had a Minoura Swinggrip on the back of the bike holding two LD600s and a Dinotte Tail light. T'was reliable and strong for almost two years before I replaced it with a prettier Dinotte holder.

+1 for the SJS thingy here. I have one on my Audax bike and another on my Thorn Nomad. It's strong enough to hang a bar bag from and doesn't look too bad either.

I have a SJS accessory bar above my handlebars on my audax and touring machines.   Bonus is that you can still use a barbag too.

Another vote for the Topeak Xtender.

I had to butcher mine a bit to make it fit on the 15mm bars of my handcycle footrests, but it's stood up very well, I trust it with two halogen Lumis.

For peace of mind, I back it up with a couple of re-usable zip ties.
Doubt is is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.
