Either option is fine with me.

WARNING: I shall be returning at a reasonable hour and sober(ish)  I know an Essex blonde whose bed I can be found in on a regular basis.  My intention is to be in said bed on Wednesday as opposed to Thursday.

Ditto that, except a different Essex blonde's bed obviousy
Hence the shorter ride home (at least for Withamites) from watering hole than recent Wednesday night/Thursday mornings!

EDIT: I'd even be up for an earlier departure from Witham to facilitate an earlier return

huggy's route #1 is very close to our usual route over that way - we have passed the White Hart at Lt Waltham on the way to many of the recent MEMWNS venues.

The main difference is that it goes Riffham's Chase and Hurrells lane rather than Colam Lane on the descent.

We've used the longer outbound option before too.

Either is good for me.  I need to investigate what was wrong with the fixie last week (slightly odd feeling when pedalling - could be a loose BB, I guess).

What time are you leaving Witham then? I might ride over again and meet you.

If I can't be arsed - I'll see you at the pub!

ETA?

7:30 is traditional for a Witham departure.

I'm at home tomorrow so could poss. do a slightly earlier start (I know one was mooted upthread), but my constraint is putting the kids to bed, so I can't really rendezvous before, say, 7:15.

So by process of desicion making by committee and for the purpose of putting a definitive plan together for others to participate in should they so wish.....

Witham Peleton
  • Rendevouz time: 19:40 (ish for OD)
  • RVP: Jack & Jenny Public House, Witham
  • Route:
    this one
  • ETA at Little Waltham: 21:00
  • Requisite Activity: rehydration with Essex Energy Drinks or some other liquid
  • Witham sniper escape time: no later than 23:00
  • Optional Extras: multiple NH ascents, filling Terling ford, closely inspecting the softness of grass verges
Edit: Essential Roadside Maintenance whilst cycling colleagues stand watching, generally chuckling and offering suitable advice

How's that for being decisive

I'm not quite sure how my evening is going to pan out at this stage, but as the White Hart is so close to home it's possible that I could drop in at some point. I was there a few weeks back and sampled the authentic tapas which was first rate, so I recommend it, chaps.

[edit] I don't think they have a great selection of real ales, might have have one on tap, can't remember, I was drinking San Miguel out of choice anyway ;)

Do you know if they serve tapas all evening?

And do they sell Bud? Oscar's Dad will want something to drink...

Tapas every night except Sundays and Mondays.

[edit] See previous edit regarding beers. Also have Stella on tap :D

[edit] Misread bobb's question, yes - tapas all evening.

I need to investigate what was wrong with the fixie last week (slightly odd feeling when pedalling - could be a loose BB, I guess).

Loose BB is now tightened.  Despite reattaching the cranks to RFT torque, do expect to see me trying to ride it with only one crank still attached later on!

I could do unsuitable advice, but doubt I could offer anything suitable or helpful.  Certainly willing to have a go at chuckling.

  I'd better drag my arse round to the Joleon and Jessica on time then since I've got the least distance to get there.
