Bad luck Oaky  :o! Hope you're not in too much pain.

Well done on your Grand Slam.

We'll do a 25 mile loop to the Compasses and see who turns up.....

Blimey Oaky, I hope it doesn't hurt too much.

I thought I had posted earlier, I'll be at the Compasses, just making my way out of London.

Sorry to hear of the stack Oaky, bad luck.

I won't be out to play this evening but enjoy those beverages

Oh no!  Was it just before a sharp left between Fuller St and Terling?

Yep! --- just here, in fact: http://goo.gl/maps/OLtL1

I thought that's where it was. Is the bike ok?

The left brake lever has a scrape, and the bar tape's a bit scuffed.  Otherwise it's fine.  ( actually, I'd be surprised if the left pedal isn't scuffed too).

Heard about your fall last night from Charlotte. Glad you're more or less ok and hope your hand recovers quickly.

More importantly the bike's ok ;)

In order of importance...

1. The bike's OK
2. I managed to complete the DIY ride, hence achieving the TGSoS (and up until the crash, had averaged 16mph, even with the Central London start)
3. The injuries aren't too bad

mrs_o thinks the timing is suspicious since our dishwasher just broke down and I can't do washing up with my hand as it is.

If you need to break your hand to get out of washing-up, I can recommend a good corner.

Today we went past The Corner of Double Doom. You'll be pleased to note mrs_o suggested we stop for a minutes silence. We didn't - naturally.

Did you notice any fresh scrape marks on the tarmac?

We looked but couldn't see any. I have to say a CSI stylee body shape marked out on the ground with white tape would have been helpful.

....fracturing one of the carpal bones in my left hand.
Tough luck, but at least it's not your drinking hand  ;)
That's 2 offs in recent 'mid-Essex' rides, hope a 3rd isn't just round the next corner!

I am claiming a Tomsk Grand Slam of (slightly tarnished) Shiny.  Slightly tarnished because of a spare 200 substituting for the 150 but otherwise a full set  :D

Even if it was, it looks a fairly simple matter to fettle a bottle cage onto the metal plate in the wrist splint.

Very impressive but they're not very shiny.  I thought you lot were going for proper metal medals.

I might join the quest for shiny metal medals.  I'm missing 50 and 150k.

On a point of order, should we have a mid-Essex audax thread rather than talk about audaxing here?

Back on-topic: next week is National Real Ale Week or somesuch, apparently.....The Angel & Harp at Churchend is promising guest ales, with a pie and a pint for £9.95.

Ulterior motive is that I've got Book Club, so can't get out on Wednesday, except later on to meet the Mid-Essex Posse somewhere local.

Were I not a) crocked and b) drinking in That London tonight, I'd have been up for that.  I was meaning to do the Angel and Harp as a Wednesday ride a couple of weeks back (but got a dose of post-Flatlands CBA ;)).

Over here a suggestion has been suggested to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting to discuss the Christmas Do.  The suggestion suggested was meeting at The Compasses next Wednesday (9th).  If I am sufficiently organised I will bring The MEMWNS Little Book of Big Ideas into which we can note notes.

How does that sound?

Shouldn't the yellow one at top right be an orange one?  :demon:
