By the way, I'm awheel this Sunday for circa 100k if anyone fancies it.  My GBG target is The Horse & Hounds at Ramsden Heath.

Sunday afternoon is possible for me.

I was hoping to be back by mid-afternoon. I'll probably have ironing to do  ::-)

That seems fair!

Withamites - the natural route to Chelmsford incorporates Wickham Bishops hill, Market Hill, Maldon and TMNH.  What say you?

I should be ok for that outing... I can probably not leave until ~19:45 though

Not for me, I'm afraid.

7:45 is fine. Shall we swing by your house Oaky?

I might shorten the route as we are setting off a bit later and have a couple of pubs to visit.  I'm keen to get some miles in but see no reason why breaking in can't be done gently.

I have come up with a Witham to Chelmsford route.  Twiddly bits added for gratuitous miles and climbing.  I'm thinking we can come home by the obvious but not very inspiring route.

What do we think?

Witham peloton ...

I have finessed the route and reduced it to 22.8 miles which would mean an average of 18.24 mph if we were to get to the pub at 2100 hours.  Shall suggest meeting Tomsk at between 2100 and 2130 hrs?  This would allow a bit of wriggle room.

For that distance on your hilly route starting at 19:45 the eta is more like 21:45, probably later for me after I've had to fix another visitation.

Sounds reasonable.  I can abort my search for a time trial bike for tonight in that case ;-)

Uh hum, your finessed route does indeed measure 22.8 miles but the track starts in Hatty Pev, so does your 21:30 eta include travel time to HP?  ::-)

If the rest of the peloton want to ride the twiddly bits, why not start earlier, and I'll head off at around 19:45 along the de-twiddled route, perhaps catching you up along the way (assuming the puncture repair doesn't happen on one of the twiddly bits) or meeting you at the pub?

I has been in communication with Huggy and the plan is that we will meet at the residence of Comrade Oaky at 1945 hours.  Huggy is having to work late so I will go on a warm up first.  We can then follow a de-twiddled (ultra-finessed) route to the Chelmo pubs.

Good news - Huggy has a pump that works so won't need to borrow mine this evening (not that I mind)

Bad news - he hasn't bought new tyres yet.

This thread would suggest that there is nothing wrong with my tyres, just the roads I follow OD on

*** ADVANCE PLANNING ALERT - THOSE OF A SENSITIVE NATURE LOOK AWAY NOW ***

Tomsk and I are going to be riding his DTDO 200km Perm on Wednesday 19th, starting sometime between 8 and 8:30am from Great Dunmow (I'll be setting off from Witham about 6:45, probably), if anyone would like to join us.
Post ride drinks will be in The Compasses, eta 9pm.

What does your route to The Compasses look like?  I could leave Witham at 7pm next Wednesday evening and intercept you on your final approach to Littlely Green.

When I did the same thing almost exactly a year ago my recorded route was: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/284151959

Obvious meeting points are Sudbury (Maccy D's on the NE corner?), Sible Headingham (probably favourite for a 7pm departure from Witham) or Wethersfield.
I wouldn't set out next Wednesday evening to intercept us though as we're not going until the 19th - I did say this was advance planning  ;D

Ah, good point!  Who is it that repeatedly says forward planning is a bad idea?

I will be on my way back from Newbury on 19th so won't be in a position to intercept anything apart from traffic jams on the motorway.

Hi, any chance of joining for the Sunday ride.

I am doing the Shaftsbury CC 100 Audax ride next week and my training has been a little unfocused to say the least over the last months so would be good to get out with others before I do that!

I still owe you my Ins details as well from the last ride we did last year!
