is it the normal Round About in Witham tonight?

If I can get out of this place in good time I will come along and pretend that there is no actual problem with my bike is in my head....it was feeling very slow up the hills last night though!

Usual roundabout and stop blaming your bike!

Looking forward to seeing the gang and getting out on the roads of mid-Essex again!  First time since the TdF  :o

Don't forget it's the new and brought forward time of 7pm departure tonight though!

Yep....looking good for me now....Delete button cleaned up all the emails....wooohoo!

But Huggy....the bike was SO slow up the hills....although it was the periodic crunching and clanging noises that worried me most....ah well, can always call in the team car if needed!

I had better wear a YACF top so I am recognised as it has been so long since I have been seen in your company :)

A cracking evening lads! Honoured with a visit from Mrs. Wow (who'll have the good taste to delay the CDC pennant for a considerable time, ie forever.)
Beer was good, Oscar Wilde, but disappointed that the pub doesn't do jacket spuds!  :o
A longer trip home but I declined the comedy off roading and decided that an extra 10k was ample. The rain was very light but there must have been a proper shower earlier as some of the roads home were wet. Also a lot of the roads are being tarred and chipped, surface dressing as the signs say, and some of the drifts of excess chips are like riding through a pebble beach!

And who was it who initially made the association between the proposed knitted yacf pennant and a CDC?  Twas not me  O:-)

I concede that I pounced on the idea and did a doodle in The Little Book of Big Ideas but given we all know I am easily led the hairy faced one shouldn't of mentioned CDCs in the first place!

Indeed it was a good evening, other than the grating sound and feel from my rear hub which then caused an early departure. It was great meeting more of the folk who have been in these circles for much longer than I and even considered as YACF royalty.

I replaced the wheel with a spar I had at home which needed a new axle, I will be looking at the actual cause this weekend and I really hope I find something. If the wheel actually looks OK I'm going to be requesting an inquiry as to where OD and Huggy got all that extra speed from!

Thanks to Old_Git for the escort back to Ingatestone!

Morning All

After my earlier request to change this week's ride to Thursday I am now available on Wednesday if preferred but available both days. I had suggested to OD a visit to the Cats. Any takers? And on which day?

If it helps at all, I don't care which day you go out for the next couple of weeks as I'll be blending in the cyclist's tan with other skin areas also exposed to the sun on the other side of the pond. Have fun all, and I'll see you for some panic miles before the Flatlands when I get back  :-*

sits back and waits for clever comments made by reading my words in all sorts of other ways...

I won't be able to do the miles this week but I might find a way to sneak out for a pint via a direct route from Tiptree....

Thursday it is then. That will also give me Wednesday home alone to play with Flatliners GPS and polish my cogs ;D

Christophe requested a longish route to The Cats, fortunately I had this already prepared.

Mrs C and I are on our own this week. Can anyone recommend a decent pub for food we could go to tomorrow night not too far from Witham?

The White Hart IN Witham has come on in leaps and bounds recently.  Or Square & Compasses at Fuller Street?  White Hart at Margaretting Tye?

The Crown in Messing was good last time I went, it was a while back though.

Thanks for the tips. We ended up at the Thai Cottage in Witham. First time since it first opened a few years ago. When we went before there was nothing vegetarian on the menu. They now have a range of veggie options so this was well received by Mrs C. A possibility got a YACF night out.

Don't know if you are all aware but there is a beer festival in Witham this week at the cricket club. Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd. Only found out last night from a leaflet through our door.

Of course, you and anyone else fancying a spin will be most welcome.

Let's meet at the Spa Rd roundabout at 7pm and scoop Christophe up at The Railway shortly after.

Chaps, on a different note, tomorrow I am riding out to Dunmow and wondered if anyone could
Recommend a coffee / cake stop for late morning?
