where is this weeks "forward planned" destination

It's supposed to be Green Man, Howe Street but it looks more a restaurant than a pub...

Donkey & Buskins which we have failed to get to on several occasions now ?

I could offer a yacht club outing but I'm not sure the weather is going to make it that worthwhile.

You could be right, apparently the Rose & Crown at Great Waltham has new decking.

Last time I was in B&Q I nearly got arrested over decking, apparently the chap wasn't after a fight after all...

Somewhere mid-way between us all would be good for Wed, I am riding off to foreign lands on Friday - that said I have done absolutely no packing or route sorting at all so need to resolve that sometime before Thursday night!

I think we established previously that Coggeshall was the centre of the known universe (it certainly has the laylines to back this up).

As an alternative, and keeping with the Green Man plan, what about the Green Man at Braxted ?

Other centre of the known cycling Essex-verse are:
Witham - Woolpack
Witham - Legends
Terling - The Rayleigh Arms (aka The Monkey)
quite a short ride home for the Witham peloton  ::-)

We've not done the Braintree area for a while either.  These suggestions do all smack of winter destinations though  :-\

Yes but Lord Jiber of Jibberish doesn't want to ride far this week because he is off to forrin on Friday and it's all about milord.

Perhaps something in Baddow or Galleywood would suit his lordship better ?

All the above strengthens the case for FORWARD PLANNING  ::-)

It's new house day on Wednesday so I strongly suspect I will not be out although I do have the day off and Thursday so maybe I will need a beer!

Looking at their website, they describe it as having 2 parts; the restaurant and the pub. The restaurant bit is the new extension.

Have a shufty at the Rose & Crown as well if you can.  The R&C was the venue of "that night" and "that picture" in July 2010  ::-)

Dunno, I wasn't there.  To be honest I don't mind where we go.

No, it means me and BJ and ARE coming out to play, its just that we're not fussy where we go.

If the TMNH is involved me and BJ might be a bit scared as we haven't been up it yet  :o  Or down it for that matter.

I reckon you were at the R&C last time....it was a cracking night, and it was shorts and short sleeve weather (until it got dark). Must have been good if you can't remember  ;D

There is a chance the Witham peloton might take a direct route to the R&C via TMNH.

You are quite correct, Strava confirms it; Fred's rear mech cable broke.  My memory is terrible these days.

All of the above just goes to show what we miss with Forward Planning - the cut and thrust of a lively debate, the thrill of the unknown, being unable to give any sort of ETA for getting home until just before you set out on Wednesday...

East of Witham is my vote.  It would go down much better if I was home before 1.45.

I may have mentioned this before but FORWARD PLANNING is going on it's summer holiday at the end of July and there's no guarantee it will return.  In due course I'm open to thoughts on the matter.

Do we have a venue decision.  The Green Man is but a hop and a skip from the CGL so we ought to be heading to somewhere different this week.

The Chequers - Wicky Bish ?  Apparently in new hands for a few months now.

I think you will find the Green Man Howe Green rather steep on the prices if it has a traditional pub area going by their restaurant near Liverpool Street! #justsaying
