I didn't realise you were the last to know, but time is a healer, you can drink to forget, there's plenty more fish in the sea, etc, etc.

Hang on - wasn't he at the uncivil ceremony ?

That was serious ?  :o

Of course!

Carpenter's Arms Maldon this Wednesday.

Four beers, good bike parking, gas fire and a punk and metal jukebox.

What's not to like.

 Ok! I'd forgotten what a decent, proper pub it is. So often tempted away by the 'spoons or the Blue Boar, and various bottle shops/micro pubs in Maldon, never mind the delights of Heybridge.

Route for the Witham Peloton (includes Bumfords Lido but not had much rain recently)
Never knowingly underfed on an Audax

I'm still stuck at work and even the prospect of going on the turbo isn't working for me tonight... so I'm afraid I won't be out...

In other news I did manage to venture out for the first time this year (i.e. out of the front door!) and the Brompton was involved... so not all lost..

Hopefully catch up with you all sometime in the future, work permitting!
Regards,

Joergen

That's a shame.

Mind you, we are starting to forget what you look like so there's always an upside.

I had some technical questions for you but they can wait.

Sorry.   Bailed.   Beaten up by the physio at lunchtime.

We did have dinner at the Spiritual Home, though.

Are we heading to a central venue this week?

I've got 3 pairs of tyres that are surplus to requirements, new or very lightly used. If anybody would like any of them I can bring along one Wednesday or to a local Audax.

Continental SportContact 700 x 35 ... used for 130km only. Black.

Continental Mountain King 700 x 32 ... new. Black.

WTB Resolute 650 x 42 TCS Light ... new. Tan.

How about the Leather Bottle, Pleshey or the Axe and Compasses, Aythorpe Roding?

Either of those good for me. How about Axe and Compasses?

Both are good for me. Perhaps the Leather Bottle this time, and aim for Aythorpe Roding when the weather is slightly warmer for those coming from a bit further afield.

EDIT: Ahh ... I was a bit slow with my response, and Toby's Dad snuck in!

Aythorpe Roding is the very definition of a Western Venue.  Its a 125k round trip for me so probably not a January venue but I would be up for a June/July jaunt over there.

As usual, if anyone wants an alternative Eastern venue, let me know.

Will probably be along.   It looks like I might have to return to the office during Feb so I will be less available Wednesday nights from then.

Also I have a birthday* on Thursday.

Happy Birthday FR, I'm glad it's a minor event for you, at my age they're all significant.

A 115km return trip is a bit beyond me, so I'd be up for an eastern extravaganza this week.

I'm available to ride this week but don't fancy a western location so happy to head east.  Hit me with some suggestions...

I should be up for a quick trip to the Leather Bottle.  I think I will be pushing the 1990s vintage Trek mtb into service as I have just lost two spokes on this evening’s ride and won’t have time to get them sorted by Wednesday.
