I can borrow one of these, and I see that film is being made again by https://www.the-impossible-project.com at the princely sun of £2 per shot.

Any views from the panel?  ;D

The Instant Lab looks awesome. Imagine, for just £109 (+ film costs) you'll be able to take a photo of your smartphone screen and watch it develop.

Who wouldn't want to do that?  ::-)

Much as the lovely old Polaroid cameras are worth saving, I can't be doing with the cost and complexity of Impossible Project film.  I have, however, just finished repairing an old Fuji Instax 200 camera (Sugru FTW) and I'm having a lot of fun shooting with it.  At £15 for two ten packs of film, it's just the right side of not too pricey and the wide format prints are quite nice.

Mainly, though, it's about seeing the smiles on peoples' faces when you hand them a still-developing picture of themselves  :D

It is quite a large format, and I think you may be able to recover the negative as well.

Well, I have a pack of film. Now need to borrow the device from mum. I'll report back in a few weeks.

At £2 a print I'm afraid they can live without a smile on their face.

You can simulate the effect by slowly turning down the brightness on your camera's LCD.

Interested to see the results as I have one of these I'd like to use at least once.

Some people say I'm self-obsessed but that's enough about them.

Trust Charlotte "Lara Croft" Barnes to spot that  ;D

Yes, it is precisely that.  Nothing like sitting close to 300BAR of fresh air all day to keep you on your toes.

DPR says Fuji just stopped making instant film. :(
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Not true.  They've discontinued Fujifilm FP-100C, but will still make Instax film.

I forgot to post about my SX-70 experiences.

Basically, one half photo came out. There's something wrong with the light proofing, the shutter, or something else. Plus I had to hold down a flap so the photo would come out. The best bit was lining some family up and popping a 1970's flash bar at them. the astonishingly bright flash left them with eye spots for a while, and the crinkly noise of the over-heated blue flash bulb was very evocative.

The SX-70 goes back to the museum shelf. And at over £2 a shot I have no intention of getting a refurb, or a new one.
