The fact you guys could ride this event AND take photos impresses me even more!
I've got a couple from the first day or so of the Spalding control, but they are on film, so it could be a while before they are visible.

Along with a mate of his from the USA, Adrian's son Ian was also riding the event - wearing an AH jersey, of course - slightly modified design too. Looks like he finished just fine.

While I was helping Charlotte I took a few pictures when it was quieter. You can see them here (https://grahamglen.photography/lel-2017)

Ah yes, silly me - it looks much more like Hogwarts than my first guess (a 70s Dr Who scene).

G. the one of John Jackson (Macc Wheeler) at the beginning sums it up - he looked worse than that at Eskdalemuir but he's hard as nails. You've got a great eye for detail, not that you'd have much difficulty spotting that beautiful scrollwork. I'm guessing that was before, rather than after. Do you know what and whose the bike was?
Great stuff

At home and sorting through the Gbs. A couple of shots, one from Cambridge, one from the finish.

I find it incredible that a significant number of bikes on such a venture have no mudguards. Why??

No, that scrollwork was at the finish at about 5am. It's a Gilbaud, belonging to Jean-Sébastien Guilbaud - he built it for PBP 2010. A real work of art.

My photos from the Pocklington control.
Mostly of empty space and food, as I was usually too busy to think of taking pictures when there were actually people there.

I was truly gutted that I missed out on this. Normally I hate having my photo taken, but for amazing photos like these I would make an exception. I arrived at 2am and had someone waiting to collect me. Charlotte was asleep in a corner of the room. The volunteers on duty at the time were very keen to wake her up. They switched on the lights and gave her a prod. There wasn't an immediate return to consciousness and being rather sleep deprived myself I didn't have the heart to subject someone else to that state just to indulge me, so I slunk away.
...I expect if the process is repeated in 2021 and I ride, age will help me look even more haggard.

Excellent photos! This is what you'll look like when you are dead - with the exception of Edie, who looks as fresh as when she left Eskdalemuir!

Er - and matching(ish) cap, I hope you noticed.
(Seriously, I was somewhat tongue-tied to meet Adrian's son at the start. Sadly, he was away about an hour before me and I didn't get the chance to see him along the way.)

I donated one of my many pairs of earplugs to Ian Hands at Pocklington, well worth it for the quality of the badinage.

Aha !
Evidence that we did indeed pass through southbound.. I seem to recall being offered the lounge to nap in rather than take up a table in the canteen as they were expecting a bulge. After assuring that we'd only be 5minutes we then manages to oversleep and wake up 20minutes later in a rather confused state.

Just on the off chance....
Thirsk, Monday morning around daybreak we chose the table by the windows far right corner as you came in the door... and snaffled some blankets from the sleep area as we planned to have 20mins kip.
To my amazement Clare managed to curl up across the two fixed seats & I just put my head down. 20minutes later I surfaced to go find tea and there was a bit of kerfuffle/amusement from I think an American chap saying they'd just taken a photo of us as it looked so "sweet".
After the similarly demeantor photo of us doing similar at Edinburgh I keep wondering if this photo may surface.... so if it's yours or you've seen it please let me know :D
