Has the forum had an acoustic guitar version of Henry Mancini's Pink Panther theme?

This is new to me. Pretty epic. Hendrix covering 'Gloria':

https://youtu.be/IZN3MTgB0Ec?si=zDJNAE5wVK7L0Ax0

I do like a bit of Hendrix, but for me, there is only one outstanding cover of Gloria. Patti Smith made it all her own to the extent I'm not sure it even counts as a 'cover'.

And as live performances go, this is quite something...

Hope this hasn't been posted. It has been around since ... well before this site! 1994 to be precise.

Weezer's cover of "Paranoid Android" from a few years ago.  Oh, the lead guitarist's not really as good as Jonny, say Radiohead fans.  You do need to take into account that he's normally the drummer!

Random selection on my music library came up with this reggae cover of 'Compared To What' tonight, which I wasn't previously aware that I possessed. It's great!

One of those 'what's the point?' covers and the singer is shite.

I am so confused by that.
Obviously better than the Stone's version, but that doesn't really need saying.

There's a great deal of... fulfilment to be had in taking an extremely well-known song apart and putting it back together in such a different way that it ceases to be even comparable, let alone better or worse.

The Fatima Mansions did this with their cover of Bryan Adams' Everything I do... - basically, transformed it from a soppy ballad into the deranged ramblings of a psycho stalker. It's incredible.

Spent the afternoon at the Harbour Festival. Saw a band called Laid Blak, who play reggae in, erm, laid back style. They did a cover, or perhaps it would be better to call it a version, of Ace of Bass's "All that she wants". It was good to hear the reggae-inspired tune turned into actual reggae!

My son was there yesterday. He said he saw a band doing dub-reggae covers of Beatles songs. Maybe it was the same band!

Talking of de-construction and re-construction, have you heard Toots And The Maytals version of Otis Redding's "Ive Got Dreams To Remember".  Nothing can ever be better than an Otis original* but it's possible to be first equal!

*  Otis's covers of Satisfaction and Day Tripper are great - but not better than the originals, imo.

It's on 'Toots In Memphis', on which he covers a number of soul standards. IGDTR is possibly the most successful of the bunch, but I have a soft spot for 'Precious, Precious'.

Lord, where have I been all my life?!  This is from 2017 and I've never heard it, in spite of being a great fan of Van Morrison when we were both a lot younger.  Then he became too self-indulgent for me.  But he's seriously on form here, as are his accompanists.  Dave Keary plays a fabulous guitar solo that reeks of Freddie King, and lets it easily eclipse his baldness - unlike Van!  I think Sam Cooke would have approved.  If you don't know his original recording, when you've listened to it (and this!) try Sam singing it live at Harlem - it's staggering.
