Just seen that Dan Hicks has died, at 75. Like many, I suspect, I first learned of him through Thomas Dolby's cover of I Scare Myself but, having tracked down the original in a record store in New York, discovered a real treasure trove of other songs. He was still performing up until a couple of years ago but, to my knowledge, hadn't played in the UK for decades.
