RRA: Interviews with record holders
« on: 10 July, 2020, 07:32:32 pm »
Hello all,

Happy lockdown to everybody, I hope that this message finds you well,

As part of a celebration of the rich history of the Road Records Association, which is now over 130 years old, I have embarked upon a project to interview a number of past record holders. This is just part of the RRA "Project Red Caps" where we are presenting retrospective scarlet red record caps to record breakers from the last 64(!) years. My aim is to talk to them about their record breaking exploits, their motivations and their background. Most of all I am interested in listening to them describing their record breaking rides from their own point of view.

I have listed the links below to the first three interviewees - all three are outstanding, inspiring cyclists.

1) RRA in conversation with Eileen Sheridan

2) RRA in conversation with Pauline Wallis (Strong)

3) RRA in conversation with Gethin Butler

I hope that you enjoy listening to these conversations and I will try and remember to post any further discussions on this thread. Any feedback, or tips, very welcome  :)

I've passed these links to others and had very complimentary responses.

Thank you for the kind comments, btw - I really appreciate it. It has been a privilege to listen to these people talk freely about their rides. Hopefully, I have a fair few other interesting interviewees lined up for the coming weeks  :)

I have enjoyed the interviews so far, keep it up!

I just need to work out how to download Soundcloud to my iPhone for offline listening. Search result suggestions don't seem to match the options I am presented with.

Continuing my productive half term, I sat down this morning and had a chat with Charlie Mitchell and Dominic Irvine who broke the Men's tandem End to End record in 2015

Many of these links unfortunately seem to have died.
