Title: Compact digital camera with USB charging?
Post by: robgul on 05 August, 2019, 08:13:16 pm
I've hunted around (as I aslways do before asking on yacf) to try and find a camera that is in the up to £400 bracket, is compact (I have a Sony 720p at the moment) - about 6 years old but working perfectly) and the real question : charges from a USB outlet (i.e. battery charges in situ with a USB cable plugged into a computer or a USB adaptor in a power socket or a phone charger)

The objective being simplicity and not having to cart round a separate battery charging cradle and mains power cable (which is what my existing Sony has)

Just about all compact cameras are USB charging nowadays. Hardly any include a separate charger, though there's usually an option of buying one.

Also most mirrorless cameras are USB charging. DSLRs are slowly catching up.

Though it seems most of them are still Mini USB or Micro USB. Not many with USB C yet.

Sony RX100.  Horrible user interface, though - I usually cart around my old Panny FT3 because even though the lens is inferior and the CCD* is only 12 Mp, vs 20 on the RX100, I don't miss shots while the camera's faffing about.

* yup.
