Kernow & SW 600 2024

This event is running in 2024!  entry on AUK website https://www.audax.uk/event-details/11036-kernow_and_south_west_600

If you haven’t heard of it before, it is a 600km route starting at  Exeter.  Day one goes across to Bude, down to the South Coast of Cornwall at Loo, along the South Coast to Penzance and then back towards Bude.  There is a sleep control at Camelford Village Hall

Day two goes further North to Barnstaple and then cuts back South to the edges of Plymouth before returning to Exeter via the South Coast of Devon via Paignton.  This second day is a new route and we liked riding it.

As you can imagine, the route is packed full of great scenery and Southwest delights.  There is even a ride on a ferry boat

It has not run for a few years, due to previous difficulties with locating good places for controls.
This time we are using a couple of village halls and we think that the facilities should be excellent.

As it is 100% in Devon and Cornwall the route is extremely hilly.  Although we have it listed as 7500m ascent, a later reassessment gave us a number over 8000m

I can't do it this year but great to see it's back.
I have many memories of doing it in 2012 or thereabouts, some are even happy ones!

Entered and looking forward to this - have never ridden previous versions and I don't think I've ever even ridden a bike in Cornwall so that will be a first.  I'm sure it'll be fine.....

I hope to be riding a couple of weeks before the event on a helpers ride.  It's such a great route.  If you want to be a helper on the event.....PM me

Gonna try and figure out a easier helpers ride thing too, like do half the route to a sleep stop and then a leisurely return the next day
