Cold Weather, a lovely little indie film, at a local indie cinema in a railway arch.  Very funny, intimate film in great surroundings.

Tintin. Absolutely loved it. Possibly because I'm not all that familiar with the books, so no danger of having the books spoiled for me… But judged on its own terms, it's great. Not perfect, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Something must be done about Kevin.
I thought it was very good. Not sure I can tell you much about it without spoiling it though. It's pretty dark but no real gory graphic bits, allthough there could well have been.

Contagion.  Meh.  Go and see 'Kevin' instead.  Mind, I fancy that 'Ides of March' with Philip Seymour Hoffman, he's always worth a watch.

I keep meaning to watch it, but never seem to get around to it.

Just finished watching Koyaaniqatsi ... perfect for just running in the background (and I like Phillip Glass' music anyway)

Miss Bala.

Excellent juxtaposition of the banality of beauty pageants and the drugs war in Mexico, a young working class woman with aspirations is caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets involved in this never ending cycle of nihilism and corruption while in pursuance of her dream. Needless to say, the dream is bought for her. Good cinematography. Heart breaking, funny and scary by turns. There are a few holes in the plot, that may have been to do with the editing of the film, and doesn't detract from an excellent film.

It is very sad, but not as much as the book.

In which we serve. First time I had seen it and it is an absolute stunner of a film. If ever there was a terribly british film about the devastation a war brings to families, this was it.

I know.  I started to tell Crusty what the book was like but started filling up again and couldn't speak, so he'll have to read it for himself.  I bet he doesn't though.  One of those books that stays with you for ever.

Transporter 2.  Ludicrous motor-car behaviour, explosions and the Stath kicking the crap out of multi-ethnic baddies from Central Casting.

It was this: shit.

I thought this wasn't bad.  But it left me feeling unsatisfied somehow.  A fair few loose ends ISTR.

We went to see The Ides Of March tonight, and I enjoyed it very much.  The lead character providing a similar tension to the Tilda Swinton character in Michael Clayton.  I would speculate that the Senator is based on Bill Clinton.

I see the director is re-making the superb TV series House of Cards for teh Merkins.  Hmm.  I couldn't possibly comment.

Just watched In Bruges. How did I miss this film? Hilarious moments mixed with extreme violence and some sadness thrown in. I've never been a fan of Colin Farrell - I always thought he just did cheeky-chappy-Irishman-with-a-slightly-dangerous-undercurrent in all his parts - but this film may have changed my mind. The dialogue in places was reminiscent of Waiting For Godot, and throughout the acting was spot on. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it.
