As Charlie Brooker might put it:  "I'd rather be be bummed in the mouth by Waldo than watch that shit again."

Because I am irredeemably shallow, I have fallen in love with Quest's "Destroyed In Seconds" (Freeview 38).  Fire, flood, natural disaster, explosions, crashes and extreme sports wonks face down, unconscious, and wearing something unorfadox (for e.g. motocross bike, snowmobile, a half-ton of angry pot-roast ect. ect.) for a hat.  No-one actually gets killed utterly to DETH on camera, although the occasional firefighter does get deaded discreetly in the background.

Crufts.

Drop a tab of acid, lock the door, sit back and enjoy.

Documentary on the life of Mstislav Rostropovich on BBC 4 at the weekend. it's still on iplayer. Facinating biography of a wonderfully musician and great human being. The anecdote about him flying all the way to Japan to play the Sarabande from Bach,s cello suite outside the house of a friend who had just lost a child then flying straight back to Europe without even knocking on their door raised a tear in my eye. such a generous spirit.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I caught a bit of Crufts. I've never watched it before. It's completely barmy.

Abigail's Party... the horror. It hasn't even got to the most excruciating bits yet but I feel compelled to keep watching.

I watched it again (from behind a cushion of course, to protect me from the social tension).

It's still wonderful and Alison Steadman's performance is as good as it gets.

But yes..compelling and excruciating.

I've seen it several times, but on each occasion I notice some new ghastly detail. Even though it is mentioned in the script, the absurdity of having a light fitting about 6" above the candelabra on the dining table hadn't occurred to me before  ;D

I see it as being more about marriage than social class. One of the things that makes it hard to watch is that undercurrent, occasionally bubbling up, of physical violence mixed in with the psychological abuse.

On BBC3, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_Flesh_(TV_series)

Missed Ep1, Ep2 was rather intriguing. A zombie drama without people running around screaming (in Ep2 anyway). Logical progression of the genre, I guess ...

I saw the first one but missed the second!

It's okay in a different, undead type way. At least its not a clone of that twilight or vampire diaries mush!

Not quite sure where to post this as you have just missed.... I caught the end of this on BBC 4 last night and googling it found that it is still available on i-player for a few days.

From the Sea to the Land Beyond: Britain's Coast on Film

Storyville: Made from over 100 years of BFI archive footage, From the Sea to the Land Beyond offers a poetic meditation on Britain's unique coastline and the role it plays in our lives. With a soundtrack specially created by Brighton-based band British Sea Power, award-winning director Penny Woolcock's film offers moving testimony to our relationship to the coast - during wartime, on our holidays and as a hive of activity during the industrial age

The Mimic is just lovely. (It really belongs in the thread we had about gentle feelgood comedy recently). Ch4 IIRC?

S2 of Parks & Recreation is much better than the first. (Apart from not having a single character I genuinely care about!)  BBC3?

The Century That Wrote Itself - BBC 4 last nigh and on iPlayer

Documentary about the 17th Century based on what people living then actually wrote, their letters and diaries.
Fascinating.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Modern Family is always worth watching but tonight's episode was particularly brilliant. Superb Godfather homage. Highly recommended.

The Bear says you have to check out Great Bear Stakeout.  2100, BBC1/BBC1 HD; concludes same time tomorrow.  Watch out for the cameo by his cousin, The Stig Other Bear :P

Under Seige or Commando?

I think Commando, because it's the rarer treat.

"This Green Beret is gonna kick your ass" "I eat Green Berets for breakfast" "I can't stand all this macho bullshit"

"What happened to sulley?" "I let him go"

Of course, you all know the punchline to the old favourite: "Remember I said I'd kill you last..."

The first series of the brilliantly dark Luther is being repeated, starting tonight, on the alibi channel (you'll find it in the deeper recesses of the Sky epg).

Repeated on Sunday if you miss it tonight.

Well worth watching if you didn't see it first time round.
