Saw a bunch a people doing that at Seaton beach in November.  On sand and with wheels, obviously.  It's much more impressive on snow.  The lads (I'm pretty sure they were all male) on the sands sort of went with the wind quite slowly, then very slowly against the wind...

There was a report on the BBC regional news about Raise, another ski-tow on Helvellyn.
