A quite pleasant Indian merlot. A generous glassful, but for that price it'd have to be.

I got up at 3pm today having just done a block of nights, and I'm on again on thursday night, so no point trying to pretend I'm a normal member of the human race rlly

Monsoon Malabar coffee, from a cafetiere as i borked the espresso machine on Thursday, and the replacement parts haven't arrived yet.

It's nice, but not as nice as from the espresso.

Strewth Tiermat,either you have very thin walls or they have a loud ring-tone.

I find six hours is normally enough sleep & deteriorating hearing does have some advantages.

Last night, a bottle of St Peter's Stout I got from the newly expanded Warwick Tesco. I was quite amazed/impressed to see 9 different stouts on offer there, excluding the usual Guinness muck, but no Guinness Foreign Export. Anyway, it was jolly good and at 6.5% ABV a very decent nightcap.

A rather drinkable Merlot. I went round my friend's to babysit (no hardship since I adore all 4 of them). Turns out she didn't need me after all but insisted I take the bottle of 'thank you' wine she'd bought. Didn't object too strenuously. Result.

Vodka & tonic. I almost never drink spirits in the house; if I'm drinking at home I drink wine. I've had the same bottle of Absolut Citron on the top shelf of the fridge for several years now. It was so hot today I really fancied a v&t so when I was out shopping I got a little bottle of Fentimans tonic water and put it in the freezer for an hour. It froze more quickly than I was expecting and for a few minutes I had vodka with tonic slush puppy.

I also couldn't work out why there was so little vodka in the bottle, 'cos like I said, I hardly ever drink it. Then I remembered a while ago I made a mushroom risotto and substituted the dry madeira needed with a mixture of Absolut Citron and dry white wine on the grounds I actually had them.

Just finished a ver' decent Chablis from the stock left over from Mrs MV's sister's wedding in June.

I'm eyeing up the Bas Armagnac again...
