Gabriel Boudier saffron gin martini. Practicing for my New Year's Eve cocktail lab (I am nothing if not dedicated to my art). I estimate casualties in the 10–15% range with long term symptoms of hallucinations and tingly appendages for the survivors. It's going to be long evening, I have 16 different types of gin alone, and a few hundred other bottles of esoteric booze. I may finally get someone drunk enough to finish the Unicum. Yes, a crude spit/swallow joke will be involved, as per tradition.

Nice gin, anyway. Heavy on the saffron, but works quite well. Professor Cornelius Ampleforth's Bathtub gin next, then I am under orders to practice restraint.

I discovered a bottle of Robinson's Old Tom today, so I'll use that to toast in the New Year. Otherwise it's tinned Bombardier - 4.3% as opposed to the 5% strength of the bottled stuff - boo! Will be round a mate's place & he tells me he has some Belgian treats awaiting my attention

Hmm, the Unicum is still there. All out of pisco though, which is terrible, since the best cocktail in the known universe is, of course, the pisco sour. Which might explain the empty bottle and the broken egg shells.

On the plus side, I did find a very nice bottle of reposado tequila hiding at the back of one of the booze cupboards. I may find a use for that later. And a litre of Becherovka that will undoubtedly spawn a unseasonal if appreciated round of betons later.

For now, a cup of tea and biccies after a wet walk in the park.

While I was cooking (and eating sliced jalapenos straight from the jar) I supped a bottle of Sainsburys Taste The Difference IPA. 5.9%, brewed by Marstons and very hoppy - probably my favourite type of beer.

The pinto bean enchilladas are in the oven, now I'm going to open a Blandford Flyer. Why did they rename it from Blandford Fly?
