OK, just been told it's pekoe.

Sweet dreams, baby.

I'm drinking La Metropole, and very lovely it is too.

Marks and Spencers Wheat Beer. A Hooegarden clone, judging by the label, but actually quite different and very nice indeed. Brewed by Huyghe (of Delirium Tremens fame) - just had a look at their website... man, I really need to go to Belgium!  :P

A cheekly little Rosé from Provence.  Not bad for 2.79 Euros

Major retail outlets here seem to have dropped fractions of a pound. Unless they want to slip in a 20% increase.  Everything is a pound (supposedly a bargain) or multipliers of (not a bargain). Strewth do they think we are stupid? mmmmmm don't answer that.

Budweiser, the American stuff.

I have a case of 24 bottles (it was a gift, someone heard I liked American beer, but didn't check on my definition of American beer). I am using it kill slugs and snails in the garden, but I thought I'd taste some just to check that it was as bad as I remembered. Good god, it's a travesty to even call it beer.

I almost feel sorry for the slugs. Until I see what they've done to my cauliflowers. I've a good mind to upgrade to MGD.

Root beer.  Once you get past thinking "medicine" its a pleasant change to coke and other fizzy softies.

Haven't drunk whisky for years, but I remember Talisker being particularly peaty. Does that taste mellow over the decades, or is it just as medicinal?

I've discovered a 'Simply' range of beers in Tesco. £1.33 for 500ml. Just had a 5% IPA which tastes much like Pedigree but with the just discernible taste of lemony American Cascade hops (probably post-boil), and their Dark Ale made with chocolate malts with the usual Fuggles and Goldings with added Styrians. Very, very good value. I've been making my own beer over the last year, and though my attempts are pretty good, I really appreciate how far off perfection I am!

I haven't seen those, must look harder... Sainsburys have a similar range of own-brand beers, basically commissioned from small independent breweries. Freed from the possibility of tainting their own reputation, I think they try something a bit riskier. The IPA is very good.

I'm on my 4th cup of tea in 2 hours. I am still making up for all the tea I didn't drink in France!

The Tesco ones are brewed by Marston's and the IPA tastes like Pedigree.

I'm drinking my homebrew clone of Westmalle Dubbel now. All I can say is that The Belgian Trappist monks have nothing to worry about.
