A DIY Chardonnay from a kit. I don't really have enough knowledge of whites to wax lyrical, but it is incredibly drinkable after three whole months of ageing.

Northumberland Brewery Whitby Wobbler

Brunswick 50 Shades of Ale

For me, the Whitby Wobbler or the Ryburn. She went for the Bacchus.

I remember (bleerily) when Whitby Wobbler was made in Whitby.

It was available at my local (the previously mentioned One Eyed Rat in Ripon)

A couple of pints and you find out why it's called Whitby Wobbler....

Ah a "Wobbler". I'm sure thats one of the brews available from time to time (not the same as the Ripon one of course) at the Gribble in Oving, near Chichester. It was afrer a couple of pints that your lips started to go numb. And brewed on the premises.

Yes it does. It was nice enough - struggled to stand out. TBH, my preference is for stronger ales, so I'm struggling to pull anything from the memory banks. On the other hand, I can still taste that De Molen Hemel & Aarde I had recently.

It's a guest ale at my local, which is a http://www.markettowntaverns.co.uk/ pub. Suspect a few of their places have it.

My wife bought me a bottle of Leeds Brewery Hellfire, which she thought funny.

The sixth extremely late night in the last ten days working on a big grant proposal resulted its completion. Celebratory lunch in the Bradford sparrow bier cafe. What a lovely place. Second only to North Bar in Leeds on my list of places I would be delighted to be trapped during a zombie apocalypse.

Just trying stuff I haven't before. Cantillion and Duchesse de Bourgogne are the extent of my experience so far. I guess I should try 3F's stuff (I've seen it on the shelf). Any other stuff I should look out?

TBH, there's no rhyme or reason behind my choices - actually, scratch that. I'm not really choosing. It's whatever I see at the bar.

BTW, I ride past Beer-ritz every other day. I suspect them being around may explain some of the availability locally. If there's something on their list I really should try, do let me know.

Well you if can drink Cantillon without turning your mouth inside out you should manage 3F - Pingu's favourite. I like Boon and Girardin Krieks but YMMV. Mikkeler stuff from Denmark worth a look, but not much of their range on that list.

I've had a couple of different Mikkeler stouts in Northbar (including a 13% that seemed to hit me from the first sip), but not seen anything else yet. I'll keep an eye out.
