Windswept Brewing APA

One of 4 ales received as Fathers Day Presents  :)  :P

We had some of the Blonde in one of our locals last week, made a nice change from Ossian.

Friday:
Mrs Cudzo- I'm going shopping for blah blah. Shall I get a beer?
Mr Cudzo- That's a good idea. Something dark, please.
...
Mrs Cudzo- I got Budweiser.
Mr Cudzo- Czech or American?
Mrs Cudzo- I don't know. It was all they had.
<glug glug glug>
Mr Cudzo- American.
...
Mr Cudzo- What did you think of that Budweiser?
Mrs Cudzo- I didn't like it.
Mr Cudzo- Neither did I.
Mr Cudzo-

Pure Ubu Premium Amber Ale.
The weak pun in the name is the best thing about it.  :(

Crabbie's ginger beer with strawberry and lime.

Now, I'm a big fan of alcoholic ginger beer, which is quite surprising as a) it's beer and therefore b) it's brown, and I don't usually touch brown drinks. I prefer Ginger Joe's, Crabbie's is a bit too macho Scots for me. I also quite like (being as I don't really like proper drinks, like, erm, beer and wine) fruity ciders, alcopops for the over 18s. So I thought this would be quite nice- it sounded like something I'd like.

This is pink. Sorry, red. It's absolutely ming. It's kind of like cider and black. Or the nasty squash you got at your friends house, summer berries really cheap stuff, nastier than your mum's really cheap stuff and made too concentrated.

Consider yourselves forewarned.

Sounds minging, but then I've yet to find an alcoholic ginger beer that is a) gingery enough and b) not disgustingly sweet.

Try Grandma's Weapons Grade ginger beer, if you can find any in your part of the world.
http://www.whealmaidenbrewery.com/

It's traditional ginger beer made with a ginger beer plant, rather than regular beer with added ginger.
I tried some similar from Fentimans the other day, but that was considerably sweeter and less gingery.

Leffe Ruby.

Quite an interesting variant on the red fruit beer, with the usual red fruit flavours plus what the label describes as "bois de rose" (which I take to be rosewood, but which actually seems to give a hint of rosewater type flavour).

Jean Doussoux VSOP Cognac.  Brought back from holiday (we were staying 3 miles from the producer, so I forced myself to go round and extensively taste their range of wares).

Very, very lovely.

I also have a bottle of their XO single cask which I plan to save for a while.  I'm not sure how long I'll be able to resist opening it for though.

Drinking a glass of the XO now and it's bloody heavenly.

I have been banished to the spare bedroom though since mrs_o is unduly sensitive to the aroma of good spirits.

Chateau bottled Chinon. Chilled.

Stupid sod I am I forgot I had bought it in April (in the Loire)  for the summer.

Too much bloody wine, I say.
