What is a Christmas pudding gin martini?

We are having Chambord & G&T.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

I'm doing a taste test between Scottish gins. Eden and Pickerings.

To conclude Eden (standard, sea buckthorn) is not very ginny, while Pickerings is really quite ginny.

This stuff.. Shaken with ice and a splash of dry vermouth. Quite nice, though I suspect the bottle will now remain in the cupboard till next Christmas.

I've not tried Eden, but I believe we have a bottle of Pickerings somewhere. G'Vine Nouaison tonight.

I got a belated xmas present of 10 gin tasters
Last night was Darnell's Spiced. Couldn't say I tasted much after the tonic was added, but the spice was apparent when I tried it neat. Tonight is Spirit of Hven organic. Very nice! Very smooth gin neat and nice and citrussy smell and flavour. Still quite tasty when diluted with tonic. Would have this one again.  :P

I have convinced friends that a trip to Bamberg next summer is in order. Rauchbier hier komme ich!

Hell yeah  And 'U' at Mahrs Brau  :P
Spezial also do an Ungespundet beer. I really liked that one, so I shall endeavour to try the Mahrs' one too. The week after Bamberg some other friends and I are off to Wainfleet, Lincs, to camp in Bateman's back garden. Salem Porter is one of my all time favourites, so I'm looking forward to August.

On a more recent note, whilst in Budapest, I went to one of the surrounding villages, Pilisvörösvar, and went to the Rotburger micro-brewery. All I can say is that is served me one of the best beers I have ever tasted: a full-bodied, malty lager, proper lager mind, that was really liquid gold. Must go back for more than one!

Ho hum, that should have been in the "doing" rather than "drinking", but they were selling CDs of artists there..... alongside cassettes.

Had a bottle of Lambeth Walk London Porter from By The Horns last night. Superb beer, as good in the bottle as it is fresh at the brewery tap- if you can get hold of a bottle do ASAP!

I probably don't test out different brands enough - though at work I've got a strength 5 cafedirect which I prefer taste wise.   I guess grinding the beans is always better, but I haven't done that for a while.

Monsoon Estates Monsoon Malabar coffee. Seeing as my Iberital grinder is about as easy to adjust to different beans as Red Robbo was to industrial relations, I tend to stick with this bean.

Freshly ground Lazy Sunday.

That'll do nicely, thanks.

What I'd like is a whole bottle of whisky. I'm not fussy, Grouse will do.

I'd even settle for a bottle of rum, preferably dark.

I have discovered Guinness' West Indies Porter. It is really rather good. It is almost as treacly as Foreign Export, but with more volume. 6% ABV, so not a session beer! £1.50 a bottle at Tossco at the moment.

A small tipple of Elijah Craig 12 yo. bourbon followed by a very small glass of "Western Gold" bourbon (Lidl re-brand). Wrong order since the "Western Gold" is quite a bit lighter. Still, they both taste really good.

This tiny tasting session ends with a small "Aalborg Taffel Akvavit" 45%. Brilliant stuff with an awesome taste of cumin/caraway.
