Not drinking, but I just opened a box and found within a bottle of Citadelle Reserve Gin.
Must. Resist. Temptation.
At least until my wife gets home.
The French do do some very good gins. G'Vine is splendid (I prefer Floraison, but Nouaison is worth a punt).
I didn't really get the G'Vine sample I had for Xmas.
I really like Floraison, Nouaison is less jauntily floral, but I still like.
The Citadelle was lovely. I've not really gone for the aged gins since the idea doesn't seem to work, but it was subtly done and extremely smooth. It didn't really need the tonic, so I made a martini. Then another. This was to dilute my disappointment that on having acquired all the ingredients for a vat of Pimms, I discovered I had no actual Pimms.
Instead I risked my La-Lager homebrew which I didn't have much hope for given my haphazard approach to sterilization (it's named La-La after my cat, aka Bad Cat, who I discovered in the fermentation vat just after I'd sterilized it (she loves chlorine)). As a first attempt, and considering I don't really follow instructions, it's actually surprisingly drinkable, tastes and looks like lager, is perfectly carbonated and I didn't die or go blind. A good job really, as I have another 40 or so bottles in the garage.
