I have just consumed a pint of Adnam's "Ghost Ship". It has a very distinctive flavour, quite fruity, but with unidentifiable fruit. it is an odd kind of enjoyment. I don't think I like it as much as Broadside, but I do find it extremely interesting.

Stella. It's rubbish. How could a country so renowned for excellent beer have got this one so wrong, and it sold so well?
The Stella in UK is nowt like the proper stuff from Belgium. UK stuff " brewed" in Wales, Belgian stuff in Leuven.
PS The UK stuff is known as "wife beater" around these parts

Stella must be one of the worst lagers there is (and lordy, does it have competition). Nasty, harsh lingering chemical taste. I can't say I've tried it in Belgium (though there's such a splendid array of beers available, I doubt I'd bother). As a rule never drink any foreign beer that isn't being made at its actual brewery. Nothing good will come of it.

I used to get decent Stella when I lived in Selsey about 20 years ago. It came over in the back of a white van. What's available now is awful.

Stella is dreadful in the UK never tried it abroad. Leffe is the only Anheuser-Busch that seems to have survived being borged OK.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

A  bottle of Vieux Pineau des Charentes. A fortified wine but oak aged for 5 years.

Ver, ver, nice.

This came from Intermarché (Les Mousquetaires) for around €7.

Why did we only buy one bottle when it's a 30k round trip . . . ?

I still have 3 bottles in the wine cellar shed that we brought home last year. (It doesn't get drunk as much up here in the cold)

ETA - it's not 30k for us, and we're further away than you ;)

In honour of a soon to be happening burp day, I am imbibing a chateau bottled Fronsac, acquired at the chateau, to accompany my Heston Burger. I just can't understand why my street sign has changed to start p-s-e-u-d

Rhubarb gin.  Bought, not made: by Warner-Edwards, a recent Booths promotion.  I was expecting something pale and delicate, but no:  it's a rhubarb equivalent of damson gin, with a whacking great thump of rhubarb taste.  In a good way.  Very drinkable, dangerously so, with just a splash of ginger ale.

I have a bottle of that, very good isn't. I've been making martinis using it.
